Polar and Non Polar Solvent

Chemical substance divide into two kind depend on the type of solvent that can dilute them. Chemicals that can dissolve in polar solution are categorized polar chemicals, chemical that can dissolved in non polar solvent said polar chemical solution.

Solvent that include on polar solvent like water, alcohol and other solvent that can mixed each other with water called polar solvent. Non polar solvent can't mixed with water like oil, coconut oil, benzene, toluene, kerosene, acetone and others.

Not all chemicals can dissolve in those kind of solution, sometime chemicals just can dissolve in other chemicals. So to dissolve them we sometime need intermediate chemicals to make certain chemicals can dissolve on this solvent.

The example chemicals that dissolve in non polar solution like, waxes, butter, oil, non-polar paint and many others, while chemicals that can dissolve in polar solution like 3M adhesives, polar paint, calcium, and many others. Chemical that can dissolve in other chemicals like sulfur, sulfur can dissolve in CS2.

Some non polar substance can dissolve in polar substance if there is intermediate substance like oil can dissolve in water after mixed with soup. Oil react with soup and then can dissolve in water, this mean that non-polar chemicals change into polar chemicals with reaction with certain substance.
